About this workshop

This full-day workshop introduces participants to basic concepts and methods in qualitative research, emphasising a practical application in health.

Beginning with an overview of qualitative methodological approaches in the healthcare setting, the workshop will seek to dispel myths and misconceptions about qualitative research before exploring common methods of data collection and analysis.

The workshop aims to instil an appreciation for a range of qualitative methodologies and methods, and their use in mixed methods and qualitative studies for research or project purposes.

Facilitator

Dr Kaye Knight is a seasoned rural health educator who calls herself the accidental researcher.  Kaye had a burning question about rural nursing that no one else was researching, so she took on the task herself with years of nursing experience but no research training. It was a steep learning curve and quite a journey, but Kaye is living proof that anyone with an
inquisitive disposition can be involved in research.

Kaye’s philosophy is that learning and research should be relevant, practical, thought-provoking and enjoyable.
