Get involved

Western Alliance identifies consumer and community involvement (CCI) as an essential element of health and medical research.

By fostering strong connections between researchers, health organisations and the wider community, we support our member organisations within Western Victoria to drive high quality health research process, practice and translation.

Community and Research Network (CARN)

Western Alliance works alongside and provides funding for CARN, a network of health professionals, health consumers, researchers and lived experience community members, seeking to share their expertise and experience to promote good health and wellbeing for the community of the Greater Geelong Region. CARN facilitates connections between the research and lived experience communities to ensure those with lived experience have a say in how research projects are designed and for researchers to be able to present their findings to the appropriate audience.

CARN provides a number of opportunities for researchers, consumers and people with lived experience to connect, consider becoming a CARN member.

Connecting with consumers

For researchers attempting to engage with consumers as part of their studies, there are several options you can consider:

  • CARN can advertise research recruitment opportunities for consumers and people with lived experience via their membership newsletter
  • Contact Western Alliance for general enquiries / advice about CCI.
