VRREGN: The Victorian Regional and Rural Ethics and Governance Network
The Victorian Regional and Rural Ethics and Governance Network (VRREGN) is a network of research ethics and governance officers, research managers and health service-based researchers from across regional and rural Victoria.
Administered by Western Alliance, VRREGN supports and enables high quality, efficient research ethics and governance in health settings across regional and rural Victoria by:
- collectively identifying, prioritising and addressing issues and opportunities relating to the regional and rural setting, and
- providing members with a support mechanism and opportunity for exchange of ideas and innovations
VRREGN Members
Membership is open to all Victorian regional and rural health services with a research administration function. Current members include representatives from:

- Barwon Health
- Bendigo Health
- Colac Area Health
- East Grampians Health Service
- Echuca Regional Health
- Goulburn Valley Health
- Grampians Health
- Latrobe Regional Health
- Northeast Health Wangaratta
- South West Healthcare
- Western District Health Service
- Yea & District Memorial Hospital
VRREGN Priority Areas
Through regular meetings, VRREGN identifies issues and areas of duplication within research ethics and governance common to rural and regional Victorian health services that are within the control and scope of VRREGN to influence or solve.
Current priority areas include:
- Advocating for regional and rural research ethics and governance functions in state/national policy and program development
- Improving research ethics and governance literacy in Victorian health services through a consistent set of messages, resources and training
- Streamlining research administration processes and fee structures
- Supporting the bridging of research and quality in health services
